How it works

A book, a phone or tablet, and about ten seconds.

Every animal page in a Made Of You book carries a small code. Here's what happens when you scan it, what you need, and what to do if it sulks.

    Open the camera

    Not an app. The normal camera of the phone or tablet. On iPhone and most Androids it reads QR codes by itself. Point it at the code on the page.

    Tap the link that pops up

    It opens app.madeofyou.com in your browser. The animal appears in 3D within a few seconds. Drag to spin it, pinch to zoom, tap the speaker for its sound.

    Tap “See it in your room”

    Point the phone or tablet at the floor and move it slowly. The animal appears standing there. Walk around it, get close, take a photo or a video. Nothing leaves your device.

We say this plainly on purpose: Fire tablets are popular with kids, and they show the 3D animals beautifully, but Amazon doesn't support AR on them.

If something doesn't work

The camera doesn't recognise the code
Hold the phone or tablet a little further away and keep it still. On older Androids, open Google Lens or the Google app's camera.
The animal shows but “See it in your room” does nothing
On Android, install “Google Play Services for AR” from the Play Store (free, made by Google). On iPhone, make sure you are in Safari, not inside another app's browser.
It asks for camera permission
Say yes. AR needs the camera to see your floor. We never receive the image.
It's slow
The first animal downloads a few megabytes. On mobile data, give it ten seconds; after that it's cached.
