The thankful turkey

His seven tail feathers are empty on purpose. Write or draw one thankful thing in each feather, then color him in. A person, a pet, a place, a food, a toy, something that happened today: anything goes.

Ages 3 to 4: they draw, or tell you and you write. Ages 5 to 6: one word a feather. Ages 7 to 8: a short sentence, with a “because” if it fits.

At the Thanksgiving table, give every child a turkey before dinner. Before dessert, each one reads their feathers out loud.

Finding Gratitude

The Thanksgiving pictures on this page are our own extras. The thankful part comes from our picture book, where Fall keeps a notebook of every moment he feels grateful.

Four siblings, the four seasons, meet for one snowy evening: Fall full of joy, Spring a bit annoyed, Summer melting away and Winter in a rush.

Coloring pages for the Thanksgiving kids' table

Print the file with every page, put the stack and a jar of crayons on the kids' table, and let each child pick a picture. The little ones go for the big turkey and the pumpkins; older children like the cornucopia and the harvest basket, with lots of small shapes.

Under every picture there's a thankful box with one question that fits it: next to the pie, who you would share it with; next to the scarecrow, a friend who keeps you company. Coloring keeps hands busy, and busy hands make it easier to talk.

More for the table: Thanksgiving question cards and a thankful placemat, or a thankful tree for the wall.

Where the pictures come from

We made these pictures for Thanksgiving, and they are not in our book. We checked every one so the lines print thick and even and the shapes close, which is what makes coloring on screen work.

Our picture book Finding Gratitude is about four siblings, the four seasons, and how Fall finds gratitude. Its own pictures are coloring pages too, each with a thankful box: gratitude coloring pages.

Questions

Grown-ups ask

Are these Thanksgiving coloring pages free?

Yes. Every page is a free PDF in US Letter and A4, with no email and no account, free for home and classroom use. To share them, please share the link to this page rather than the files.

What age are they for?

Ages 4 to 8. Most pictures have big, simple shapes for little hands. The cornucopia, the harvest basket and the scarecrow with the sunflower have more small shapes, for older children or careful colorers.

How does the thankful turkey work?

His seven tail feathers are empty. Your child writes or draws one thing they are thankful for in each feather, then colors the turkey. A 4 year old can draw, or tell you what to write. At a Thanksgiving table, every child can fill one and read their feathers out before dessert.

What is the box under each picture?

A thankful box with one small question that fits the picture: who you would share the pie with, a friend who keeps you company next to the scarecrow. Ask about it while they color. That chat is the part that matters.

Can my child color on a phone or tablet?

Yes. Pick a picture and a color, then tap a shape to fill it. You can undo, start over, save the picture on your device or print it. Nothing is saved on our side or sent anywhere.

Are these pictures from your book?

No. We made these pictures for Thanksgiving, and they are not in the book. Our picture book Finding Gratitude is about four siblings, the four seasons, and how Fall finds gratitude. Its own pictures, as coloring pages, are on our gratitude coloring pages.

When is Thanksgiving?

In the United States, Thanksgiving is on the fourth Thursday of November: Thursday 26 November 2026. In Canada it comes earlier, on the second Monday of October.

What is Finding Gratitude?

Our picture book for ages 4 to 8, on Amazon since October 2026. Four siblings, the four seasons, meet for one snowy evening, and Fall shows them the notebook where he colored the moments he felt grateful. The pictures on these pages come from it.
