Times tables · a plain page
The 12 times table
Twelve rows, from 1 × 12 to 12 × 12. There is no dragon for 12. Yet.
Our game, its voice and its ten dragons cover the tables from 2 to 11. The 12s get this quiet page: the multiplication table of 12, one tip, and three sheets to print.
From 1 × 12 to 12 × 12
The multiplication table of 12

Does your school go to 12?
Who needs the 12 times table
England's national curriculum has Year 4 pupils “recall multiplication and division facts for multiplication tables up to 12 × 12”. The Common Core standards in the United States ask for “all products of two one-digit numbers”, which stops at 9 × 9.
Sources: National curriculum in England: mathematics programmes of study, GOV.UK, and the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics, standard 3.OA.7. Both read on 2 October 2026.
The tables before this one
The 12s come last
We learn the tables in this order, and each of the first ten has a dragon to set free. Before the 12s comes the 11 times table. See all ten dragons, make a worksheet of the 12s with fresh sums, or fill in a wheel.
Questions
Grown-ups ask
- What is the 12 times table?
- 1 × 12 = 12, 2 × 12 = 24, 3 × 12 = 36, 4 × 12 = 48, 5 × 12 = 60, 6 × 12 = 72, 7 × 12 = 84, 8 × 12 = 96, 9 × 12 = 108, 10 × 12 = 120, 11 × 12 = 132, 12 × 12 = 144.
- What is the trick for the 12 times table?
- This one is ours, not from our book: 12 is 10 and 2. So 7 × 12 is 7 × 10 and 7 × 2, which is 70 and 14, and that makes 84. It works for every row, and both halves come from tables a child already knows.
- Why is there no dragon and no game for the 12 times table?
- Our cube game and the voice that reads the tables were made for the tables from 2 to 11, the ten in our book. The 12s have this plain page, with a chart, a wheel and a worksheet to print. There is no dragon for 12. Yet.
- Do children have to learn the 12 times table?
- That depends on the school. England's national curriculum has Year 4 pupils “recall multiplication and division facts for multiplication tables up to 12 × 12”, so there the 12s are part of the job. In the United States the Common Core standards say: “By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers”, which stops at 9 × 9. Not every state uses those standards, so ask your child's teacher. (Both documents read on 2 October 2026.)
- What is 12 × 12?
- 12 × 12 = 144. With our tip that is 120 and 24. It is the last square on a multiplication chart that goes to 12.
