Christmas gift tags
Nobody shakes a present quite like a child who has just spotted their own name on it.
Type in everyone on your list and their tags print together on one sheet, with Santa's balloon, the candy cane, Dancer and the other pictures from our book. The blank ones are free to download too, in color or in black and white to color in, along with tags from Santa (signed already) and from the elves.

Gift tags with names
Add a line for each person, pick a kind of tag and the pictures, and print. A whole family fits on one sheet, two or three tags each if the pile under the tree is big. Packing a Christmas Eve box? That page has its own name tags and a label for the lid.
Eight tall tags a page, about 1.75 by 3.7 inches (4.5 by 9.3 cm), with a hole at the top for the ribbon.
To keep a PDF, choose “Save as PDF” in the print window. Punch the holes while the sheet is still in one piece, then cut.

Free printable Christmas tags
Here is every design, blank, in US Letter and A4. The color ones can go straight onto the presents, and the black and white ones are for your child to color in first, which makes a lovely job for a December afternoon. The tags from Santa and the elves say who they're from already.

Gift tags from Santa
Santa signs his own tags, of course. Ours have his signature and a North Pole postmark printed on, so all they need is a name. The elves sign theirs too, and they tick off their little checklist on every one (wrapped, bow on, not peeked at).
Our letter from Santa ends with the very same signature, and so do his little notes for Christmas morning, so everything Santa leaves matches.
His own wrapping paper
Wrap Santa's presents in a paper that never shows up under the tree before Christmas Eve, because children notice these things.
Printed after bedtime
Print Santa's tags once they're asleep and keep the sheet out of sight. A tag left in the printer tray has given the game away in more than one house.
Our own book
The Christmas Secret
A Christmas Eve picture book with a read-along · ages 3 to 7 · out on October 20
There's a present with a name on it in The Christmas Secret too. It turns up at a secret circus in the mountains, where a snowman needs a hand to lift it.
I pulled with all my might, and as we lifted it, I saw the name on the card. It was MY name! My very own name, on my very own present!

Questions
Grown-ups ask
How do I print gift tags at home?
Download the PDF in US Letter or A4 and print it at 100%, or "Actual size", not "Fit to page", so the tags come out the right size. The classic tags are about 1.75 by 3.7 inches (4.5 by 9.3 cm) and the round ones 1.75 inches (4.4 cm) across. Try one page on plain paper first, then load the card. For tags with names, type them into the maker on this page and press Print.
What paper is best for gift tags?
Thin card, often sold as cardstock, around 65 lb cover in the US or 160 to 200 gsm everywhere else. It's stiff enough to hang from a ribbon without curling, and many home printers feed it best from the back tray. Plain printer paper works too. Glue it onto an empty cereal box before you cut, and nobody will ever know.
How do you attach gift tags?
Punch the hole (the little ring on each tag shows where) and tie the tag on with ribbon, string or baker's twine, under the bow or around the ribbon. A folded tag can also sit over the ribbon like a tiny tent, with a bit of tape inside. No hole punch? A strip of clear tape on the back holds it just as well.
Can I print gift tags on sticker paper?
Yes. Print the page on full sheet sticker paper (sold as label paper too), cut the tags out and stick them straight onto the wrapping, no hole needed. The small round ones make the best stickers. Check first that your printer takes sticker sheets.
How do I do tags from Santa without my child knowing my handwriting?
Let the printer write the whole tag. Choose From Santa in the maker above and type the names, and they print beside his signature. Wrapping his presents in a paper of their own helps too. If Santa leaves a letter as well, ours is signed the same way.
Is anything I type sent anywhere?
No. The whole sheet is put together on your own device, so the names never travel. Only the first one is kept there, for our other Christmas makers, until you clear it. The rest are gone when you close the page. All the page counts is the printing itself (how many names, which kind of tag), never a word on the tags.
