For grown-ups
Breathe with Foo
Foo is a little dandelion puff from our picture book Foo's Big Emotions. One day a big, dark cloud fills his mind. He hides in his tent and starts taking deep breaths, and every time he breathes out, the cloud turns into rain. Here your child breathes along with Foo and does just what he does.
How it works
Press start and turn the sound on. A gentle voice guides five slow breaths: in while the circle around Foo grows, out while it gets smaller, as if blowing a dandelion. Every breath out makes the cloud rain, until the sky is clear and Foo's seeds fly away. It takes about a minute and a half.
Nothing to set up
No app, no sign-up and no microphone: it only plays, it never listens. Watch it together the first time, then your child can come back to it alone whenever a big feeling needs to rain away.
Why a long breath out
A slow breath out is one of the simplest calm-down tools there is, and children can use it anywhere: in the car, at school, at bedtime. Doing it with Foo makes it something to look forward to, not one more instruction.
